MODERNISATION

In recent past, due to sustained efforts, CENWOSTO has achieved following milestones which have not only brought the laurels to this technical unit but also provided the various kinds of Hi-tech gadgets to the field formations of Border Security Force as force multiplier.

  • Under Modernization plan, various sophisticated arms/amn and eqpts were procured and distributed to field formations, in order to keep pace with latest technology

OFFICE AUTOMATION

On 1st May 2006, software jointly designed by the CENWOSTO and RJIT regarding office automation named e-Note sheet was inaugurated by Shri A K Mitra, IPS, Director General BSF in the newly renovated computer cell of CENWOSTO. This software has ensured punctuality, transparency and efficiency of all branches of CENWOSTO.

ISO CERTIFICATION

CENWOSTO has been assessed and found compliant for registration of ISO 9001-2000(QMS) and 14001-2004 (EMS) as per the accreditation standards of Moody International Limited, an UK based ISO Certification unit.  Both these certificates were conferred upon CENWOSTO by the DG BSF on 11 May’ 2007. This Unit has become the only Unit in the force for qualifying the standards for obtaining both the prestigious certificates. All the personnel in CENWOSTO have worked hard to maintain the environment of the unit and prepare books for the audit to qualify for ISO 9001-2000(QMS) and 14001-2004 (EMS ).

CENWOSTO is the first unit in the force to acquire both ISO-9001- 2008 (QMS) for Quality Managegment System and ISO 14001-2004 (EMS) Certificate for Environment Management System.

ESTABLISHMENT OF TFS PLANT

  • CENWOSTO has attained capabilities of independently replacing the TFS in 51mm MOR sights by procuring radioactive source from BRIT (Board of Radio Isotopes and Technology), a sub unit of BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Center). The laboratory has been established according to AERB norms. On 11 May’ 2007, the Director General, BSF visited CENWOSTO to inaugurate Tritium Filled Source Plant (TFS).  The Director General briefed the personnel on this occasion and appreciated the efforts of CENWOSTO towards modernization.
  • CENWOSTO has attained capabilities of replacing the TFS in 51 Mor. Sight , Collimator Infinity Aiming Referebce 102A; Mount & Dial Sight 104A of 105 mm Art Guns by procuring radioactive source from BRIT (Board of Radio Isotopes and Technology), a sub unit of BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Center). The laboratory has been established accroding to AERB norms.

ESTABLISHMENT OF CNC WORKSHOP IN CENWOSTO

Establisment of CNC workshop in CENWOSTO is another feather in the cap. CENWOSTO has started production using CNC machine to fabricate required small arms components of in service weapons. Consequent upon successful installation and commissioning of CNC machine, The fabrication work at five small arms worlshops has been closed and the entire load of these workshops has been taken overby CENWOSTO during the year 2007-2008. In the year 2012-13 CENWOSTO fabricated toatl 40279 Nos of SA components and completed its alloted target well before the time i.e. 31st match 2013.

MODIFIED TEAR GAS GUN

CENWOSTO is presently working to develop modified versions Tear Gas Gun. On 6th Aug’ 2007, a trial of 1st modified version of Tear Gas Gun was carried out by a Board of Officer consisting of senior officers  from BPR&D, Delhi Police, RAF, CISF and MP Police. Existing rate of production of TGG is 1200 nos with present cost of Rs.16,343/-. CENWOSTO has modified the efficient and user friendlly.
